Bernadette’s works are inspired by experience. By roads she has travelled, people she has met and by gardens and special gifts. As a South Australian who lives close to the coast, her work often reflects the influence of place.

“I believe to flourish, to find happiness, I need to be open to seeing what is beautiful in all the ordinary things around me and be grateful. This is what painting does for me. It slows my looking so I can see what I have around me and be glad. Hopefully the viewer of my work gets a sense of what is wonderful in their life.”

Nature has always inspired my work. Ever since I was a kid I have felt a strong connection to the environment. I see beauty everywhere I look and it feeds me.

From the simplest things like the sun rising to the complex patterns formed on the leaves, nature is beautiful. Inspired by my observations of my local surroundings and my research into different aspects of the environment, my work depicts simple scenes that we often take for granted such as the morning bird singing, a thunderstorm rolling in and the changing of the leaves as the seasons progress.

Through the use of watercolour, collage and gelli printing, my works aim to highlight the beauty of nature which is often taken for granted and show it in a new light that will make observers feel the same connection I feel to nature.

The word flourish can have so many meanings unique to every person.

For me personally my art is very vibrant and incorporates a lot of colour and beautiful atmospheres. I resonate with the ambiance of my paintings, the way I can go into my paintings spending hours adding thousands of tiny brush strokes, watching simple paradises unfolding in front of me.

My main sum of work is digital art and as of recently I’ve been delving into oils.

Charndra is a Social Artist who specialises in using accessible and inclusive success strategies to facilitate painters to unleash their creativity and have fun painting around each other.

These works were created by 575 people during the Inaugural Art Story at Westfield Marion in 2022. I was a (Social) Artist in Residence and spent 2 weeks creating these with members of the community who happened by.

I use emotion and music, nature and memories to create my art. My art is a reflection of who I am. Constantly growing, flourishing and learning but now I colour outside the lines too.

Bec is a self taught local artist who loves creating fluid art pieces using various mediums. Growing up and living close to the beaches of Adelaide inspires Bec through colour and form. Each piece is loosely planned, while keeping the art spontaneous and in the moment.

Bec loves walks along our beaches as it has a calming effect on her well being, she loves the feel of the sand beneath her feet, the smell of the sea and the sound of the waves crashing on the sand. Emma Falt is a local artist based in Sellicks Beach. Her work is deeply rooted in the natural world and its interconnectivity to the human experience. The Wildflowers series is a personal exploration of resilience and strength, born from Emma's own experiences with adversity. As a survivor of domestic violence, depression, and family tragedy, Emma has found solace in art, using the metaphor of the wildflower to remind us that even in harsh conditions, life can flourish. Through her paintings, Emma celebrates the resilience of the wildflower and the human spirit, hoping to inspire others to find their own strength and never give up.
