MAUREEN SWALLOW

All my work in this exhibition is hand built.

The experience of working directly with the clay, seeing and feeling the form gradually emerge, is both challenging and exciting.

I enjoy experimenting with different sculpting, glazing and firing techniques. The whole process is rewarding, fulfilling – and just fun!

RAYNA SCHOFIELD

…and then we grew up

I want to crawl back into the womb,

soft and quiet and alone

caressed by symbiotic fluids, warm and sensual,

soft, soothing hum,

my unwise, unfinished self.

moving to rhythms of liquid fingers,

lulling and peaceful sounds

like some glorious symphony

oblivious to the chords that tie.

tree totems

Trees are the stuff of life.

Above ground they grow higher, below ground they connect further than any other

form of life. As paper and cardboard, they endow us with the means of culture and

industry.

I pay homage to trees as I engage with paper and its patterns of decay, as I depict

items of use with the imagery of mycelial growth.

EARTH TOTEMS

Wherever I walk – the surface of the earth is my point of contact.

Every footfall lands on a specific patch of earth. Always different.

I honour these moments of earth by taking the occasional plaster cast – a badge for the earth’s variety, a memento of where I have stepped.

VICTORIA BERESIN

My love of tinkering has culminated in an art practice working with my extensive collection of gathered materials. From objects of different shapes, sizes and textures, new forms evolve, harking back to the theme and place of gathering. I explore hidden surfaces using differing sculptural techniques, especially relating to timber in its many guises.

VANESSA HEARNDEN

Vanessa Hearnden was born in England and migrated to Australia as a toddler. Spending her youth in Whyalla she developed a close affinity  and love for the natural environment. Driven by her mantra to live kindly, tread softly, Vanessa creates art which explores the often unobserved or overlooked.

“ 3 Totems" are a statement of pleasure found through the manipulation and patterning

with clay.

“Still People” captures tranquil, contemplative moments revealing the ordinary.

“Clay sculptures” are the results of playful experimentation with clays and tools revealing

non-functional works.

“Floral Tributes” express four flowering plants painterly described to reveal their natural

glory.
