resoNANCE

Group show

The theme resonance has possible meanings:

If something has a resonance for someone, it has a special meaning or is particularly important to them.

Indeed the language of 'resonance' is often used to describe the profound connection that we feel when an idea or concept synchronises and aligns harmoniously with our experiences and beliefs, often creating strong emotions and affirming our deepest truths.

Trees are the markers of the many varied landscapes across Australia. The eucalyptus trees I can see from my studio window are the inspiration for these forms; their elegant, strong structures connect and interact within their own ‘community.’

I strive to recognize and appreciate how wonderful ordinary things are. I live near the sea and big skies of a beautiful part of a beautiful city in a beautiful country. I love the changing sights and sounds and fresh air. The big sky and water nearby bring me feelings of wellbeing and calm.

The sea is in my blood, it’s ever changing mood and colour inspires my work.
Memories of a sandy ,  to swim and sail and a family history of seamanship, boat building and marine artistry have further inspired me.
Latterly, living on board a boat and listening to the waves lapping on the hull and the tip-tapping of the of rigging will always be with me

My hand-drawn mandalas come from a deep connection to nature and an even deeper listening to resonance—the subtle, vibrating energy that flows through all living things. In the spiral of a fern, the unfolding petals of a flower, the branching of trees, and the ripple of water, I find patterns that speak in quiet harmonies. These natural forms inspire the shapes and rhythms of my mandalas, each one echoing the balance and flow found in the world around me.

The drawing of mandalas is a meditative experience. It’s in this stillness that I feel the resonance. It’s a sense of alignment, where the act of creating becomes a form of tuning in. Every line, every repeating pattern becomes part of this frequency, reflecting the invisible connection between myself and something larger The mandalas are visual echoes of this resonance. They are peaceful and grounding, yet quietly alive with energy. Nature provides the inspiration, but it is resonance that gives each mandala its soul—shaping not only the form, but the feeling it carries. Through this practice, I explore how creativity, peace, and presence can harmonize into something healing and real.

In sharing my hand-drawn mandalas, I hope to pass on that sense of connection—to nature, to self, and to the resonant pulse that moves quietly through all things.

My artworks speak of layers of history. Behind a veil of depth, architecture, iconography, images and symbols through medieval times. Think old walls, arches, faded and worn art on floors and walls. My experience over many years visiting the crumbling ruins and restored medieval buildings evokes this “resonance” in me.
