IMAGES FROM BOTH SIDES OF THE ROAD
PHOTOGRAPHY BY GREG NEWINGTON
Greg Newington is a multi-award-winning photographer who’s career as a photo journalist and newspaper editor has spanned over 50 years. His photographs and illustrations have appeared in over 300 publications worldwide, with his fieldwork reaching across continents, from Australia, to the Americas, to the Middle East.
Images from Both Sides of the Road is Greg’s first exhibition held in South Australia, and showcases photographs selected from his travels across Africa, Australia, The United States, Mexico, The Middle East and Europe.
Greg writes, ‘As a photographer I am interested in presenting my interpretation of the subject without being dishonest as to its actuality. Usually I try to have fun while I’m doing it, and am more focused on the actual experience than the outcome. Perhaps it’s my background as a news photographer but I find so much of the hand-wringing angst and search for deeper meaning in photographic art a distraction. As a photographer I tend to see it. Photograph it. Enjoy it. Learn from it. I’d rather leave it up to the viewer to analyse it.’
