HELEN MOON
I am a silk painter and textile Artist from the Adelaide Hills. In 1986 I started my journey with silk painting. Since then I have been using various techniques such as, hand painting, immersion dying, shibori/tie-dye method, printing, indigo, rusting and soy wax resists to bring colour and design onto white silk. I also do nuno felting, I make scarves, clothing, fabric, cards and wall pieces.
Silk fabric, dyes and thread are my basic materials. Using various techniques such as hand painting, salt and sugar, soy wax resist, gutta resist, printing, immersion dyeing, indigo and shibori, I bring colour and design onto white silk. Once the dyes are set by steaming, the fabric is washed, ready to be cut and stitched into garments.
