Banal Marie (2020) by Colin Rivers is a collection of both analogue and digital photography, documenting South Australia’s multi-cultural suburban eateries, as well as the characters that both work and frequent them.

The colours emanate exotic characteristics, contrasting their mundane environments and creating a new perception of the familiar.

The collection of works explores the importance of ethnic diversity in modern Australia, highlighting the often-unnoticed influence it has in our day to day lives. \
