Sometimes you must respond to the world rather than shape it to your vision. Within a week we could no longer be in the same room. People could no longer come together in the manner to which we’re accustomed. Thus, we are left to connect and develop intellectual intimacy with a loss of physical sensitivity and interpretation; forced to rely on words along with a flat, glitch-ridden representation over which we’ve limited control. Here, we question what it is to be connected and reconsider connection when we’re placed at physical distance gazing upon one another.
Ross’s photographs will be a blend of analogue and digital: a screen photographed on film. Captured are the people socially distanced. Represented in their homes through the lens of whatever device available. Capturing the relationship between the artist and the individual; the representations gifted from a distance: the layers of machinery, signals and compression placing the distance between us while connecting us.
Due to COVID 19 Restrictions the opening event will be ticketed- Register via Eventbrite here
